A total of 24,650 poor farmers of all the six upazilas of the district will come under the Tk 400 million programme so that they can grow crops without any hassle.

One farmer will be provided wheat, maize, mustard and brinjal seeds so that he could cultivate one bigha of land.

Abu Alam of Itakhola union under Nilphamari Sadar said he received 20 kg of wheat seeds and 30 kg of chemical fertilisers on Tuesday last.

He said, "We are grateful to the government to take such initiative for us."
