TANGAIL, July 02: Farmer of all the 12 upazilas of the district is passing busy time to grow Aman paddy.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Tangail, sources said so far 16,500 hectares of land have already been brought under the farming of Aman which is about 60 per cent of the season's target.

The DAE officials have targeted to bring some 29,021 hectares of land under Aman cultivation with the production target of 34,825 tonnes.

Nargis Akhter, sub-assistant agri official of DAE, said Aman farming is going on in full swing in the district.

She expressed the hope that season's cultivation target will be fulfiled within a few days.

Farmer Hasan Miah of Nagorpara village under Mirzapur upazila said a good number of cultivators could not prepare their land for Aman farming due to heavy rainfall.

A vast tract of land in the district is still inundated, he added.

Deputy director of DAE Abdur Razzak said Aman farming is profitable.

Many farmers in the district grow the paddy every season and make a handsome profit, he added.
