Book Fair starts in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Mar 18 (BSS): A ten-day book fair began here yesterday afternoon aims at encouraging people, especially children, to develop the habit of reading books from an early age.

The fair was organised at Green Plaza of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) as part of the 20-day long Bangabandhu International Cultural Festival-2019 being celebrated here since March 07 to mark the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangabandhu International Cultural Festival-2019 Celebration Council is hosting the book fair with patronisation of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

Member of Bangabandhu Memorial Trust poet Sheikh Hafizur Rahman opened the fair as focal person while former governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Dr Atiur Rahman addressed the opening ceremony as the chief guest with City Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton in the chair.

Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, Professor Hassan Azizul Haque and Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police AKM Hafiz Akter also spoke on the occasion.

Some 25 stalls have been set up in the fair.
