Brisk business of tree trunks to process cattle meat on

RAJSHAHI, Aug 10: The brief trading of tree trunks, used for chopping meat is going on at almost all corners of the roads and markets of the city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. Small, seasonal traders are mainly engaged in such brief business.

The tree trunk is an essential tool for chopping flesh and bone by putting on it.

During every Eid-ul-Azha celebration, several thousands cattle heads including bull, calves, buffaloes, goats are sacrificed in the city and its surrounding areas.

The brief trade of the item can be noticed at Shaheb Bazar, Binodepur, Kantakhali, Shalbagan, Sadhur More, Sadhur More, Luxmipur and Rajshahi court areas of the city. According to shape, size, wood-quality, a single piece of chopping-wood is selling at Tk 250 to Tk 800.

Selim Hossain of Salbgan area was seen to purchase chopping-wood from Shalbagan market. He informed, without the help of chopping-wood, flesh cannot be processed that is why he was purchasing one.

Rumon, a seasonal tree trunk seller at Shalbagan, said the Tamarind trunk is the best for processing meat and bone as it is strong and heavy.

He added, during every Eid-ul-Azha celebration, he used to sell Tamarind truck before Eid. He used to purchase the wood of Tamarind at Tk 20 per kg in an average and cutting those in saw-mills, sells those from Tk 200 to Tk 800 per piece based on size and weight.
