Char Aga Bohail Govt Pry School suffers shortage of teachers

BOGRA, Apr 01: Academic activities of the Char Aga Bohail Government Primary School under Sariakandi upazila of the district are hampering due to shortage of teacher.

Sources said the school was set up in the village in 1989. Teachers do not show interest to serve the school as it situated in a remote char area with poor communication facility. Both the teachers and students are to walk minimum two km to reach the school.

Only a deputation appointed teacher is running both administrative and academic progress simultaneously, sources added.

In a recent visit, this correspondent found Susoma Akter is running the 105-student school. Class time of play group to class two is 9.00am to 11.59 am, class three to five is 12.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

Susoma came to the school from Dalika Government Primary School of Chalua Bari union December 31 last as deputation. "As I am the only teacher of the school, I have to perform both academic and administrative work," said teacher Susoma Akter.

"I urged the authority concerned to fulfil all the vacant posts as soon as possible for smooth running of the school", she added.

President of the school management Golam Sobhan said no teacher wants to work here. The students have been depriving from better education.

Upazila education officer Rafiqul Islam said, "We are trying to fulfil all the vacant posts of the school."
