Commercial goat rearing gains popularity in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Oct 03: Commercial goat rearing is gaining popularity among the grassroots people in the district.

Sources said a good number of people in remote villages have attained financial solvency by rearing goats.

Harun-or-Rashid of Shahjadpur upazila said, "Most of the people of our area were landless. They were passing hard time for acute poverty. But the scenario has now. Villagers have attained solvency by rearing goats."

Its rearing enterprise is gaining popularity abundantly as they are making lucrative profit investing trifling money compare to cow farms.

District livestock officials said goad rearing is profitable. Around 3,000 poor and marginal farmers in the area are now engaged with the venture.

Some local NGOs are working in this regard. They also provide loan facilities, they added.

They further said more importance should be given on extending the requisite services like primary treatment, vaccination and farm management.
