TCB sale in Nilphamari

Dealers not taking delivery of items for high prices than market rates

NILPHAMARI, May 20: Dealers of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) of the district yet to start selling essential commodities because the price of TCB commodities are higher in comparison to local market price.

The dealers even did not take delivery of the commodities from the TCB stocked godown.

TCB Rangpur office sources said essential commodities such as gram, lentil, soybean and oil were scheduled to sale from the May 06 for the month Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. But till last Saturday the TCB dealers of Nilphamari did not collect the commodities from the TCB godown.

While visiting it was found in the market that existing market price of gram is Tk 55 per kg, sugar Tk 55 per kg, lentil Tk 53 per kg and soybean Tk 80 per kg.

On the other hand price of TCB commodities are gram Tk 70 per kg, sugar Tk 55 per kg and soybean Tk 85 per kg.

Under the circumstances TCB commodities are not supposed to be purchased by the consumers.

While contacted TCB dealer of Sobujpara of Nilphamari municipality Sotayendra Nath Ray said, "We did not take delivery of the TCB commodities because its price are higher than the market price."

While contacted executive officer TCB Rangpur zone Miskatul Alam said there 25 TCB dealers in Nilphamari but they did not take delivery of the commodities allotted for them.

He further said, "We have just reduced the price from Sunday at a rate of gram Tk 65 per kg, lentil Tk 50 per kg, date Tk 100 per kg but the price of sugar and soybean oil would remain the same."
