Early cultivated potato harvest starts

NILPHAMARI, Nov 18: Harvest of early cultivated potato started in the district.

Sources said early winter potato farming is popular among the growers for high market prices.

Some 50 maunds of potato can be produced on a bigha of land.

One maund of newly-harvested potato is being sold at Tk 2,000.

A grower usually earns around Tk 70,000 from the production of potato of a bigha of land.

DAE sources said early winter potato can be harvested within 60 days from the plantation.

Farmers are able to grow other Rabi crops after completion the harvest, sources said.
