Experts urge agriculturists to play vital role for boosting yield

RANGPUR, Dec 11 (BSS): Experts at the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) have called upon the agriculturists to play their due role for increasing crops production to achieve sustainable national food security.

They said this at the concluding session of the three-day orientation training organised by the DAE's regional office at its conference room on Monday for newly-appointed 30 agriculture extension officers of the 35th and 36th BCS (agriculture) cadre.

Earlier, Director of Field Service Wing (FSW) of DAE Dr Md Abdul Muyeed formally inaugurated the three-day orientation training programme on Saturday as the chief guest.

Rangpur Regional Additional Director Agriculturist Md Shah Alam presided over the inaugural function.

Director of the Training Wing of the DAE Agriculturist Nitya Ranjan Biswas attended the concluding function as the chief guest with its Deputy Director of the DAE at its Rangpur regional office Agriculturist Md Moniruzzaman in the chair.

High officials and experts of regional and district level agriculture departments and organisations addressed during the sessions of the training programme.

Principal of Tazhat Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) Agriculturist Mohammad Ali, Deputy Director of the DAE for Rangpur Agriculturist Dr Md Sarwarul Alam addressed the concluding session as special guests.

The experts discussed on management of fertilisers, seed, pesticides, quarantine, plant protection, crop wings, seed certification agency, agriculture information service and agricultural activities conducted by different departments and organisations.

Agriculturist Biswas called upon the newly appointed agriculture extension officers for knowing about periphery of their works and responsibilities, activities of different departments and organisations under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Agriculturist Moniruzzaman suggested the newly appointed agriculture extension officers for applying their academic knowledge as per requirements and providing instant solutions to farmers for the agriculture-related problems at the field levels.
