Focus on adoption of quadruple cropping pattern

THAKURGAON, Apr 10 (BSS): Experts at a workshop on Monday laid emphasis on adoption of quadruple cropping pattern annually on the same land for increasing food production.

They made the resolve at a workshop on 'Expansion of Technology of the Quadruple Crop Cropping Pattern (short duration Aman rice-mustard-mungbean-Aus rice) for four crops on same land annually', according to a press release.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and RDRS Bangladesh organised the event at its training centre with Palli Karma Sohayok Foundation (PKSF) funding under the Promoting Agricultural Commercialisation and Enterprises (PACE) project.

DAE Additional Director Md Abdul Wazed attended the workshop as the chief guest with Deputy Director Hossain in the chair.

DAE officials Shamsul Haque and Dr Mahbubur Rahman spoke as the special guests.

Senior Coordinator (Agriculture and Environment) of RDRS Bangladesh Mamunur Rashid delivered the keynote presentation on the cropping pattern evolved and fine-tuned by RDRS Bangladesh through conducting field level research a few years back.

Forty participants, including upazila agriculture officers, sub-assistant agriculture officers, local public representatives and common farmers took part in the workshop.
