Four die in three road accidents

SAVAR, Mar 24 (UNB): Two people were killed and 11 others injured on Saturday as a human-hauler plunged into a roadside ditch after being hit by a truck on Dhaka-Aricha Highway at Sutipara bus stand area.

One of the deceased, who died on the spot, was identified as Sufia Begun, 37, while identity of another man who died on way to hospital could not be known immediately.

Officer-in-charge of Dhamrai Police Station Rizaul Haque said the accident occurred when a Manikganj bound soil-laden truck hit a human hauler in the noon killing one on the spot and injuring 12 others.

Later, on the way to the hospital another man aged around 60 died, he added.Police seized the truck but its driver and his assistant managed to flee, he said.

In Nilphamari, a human hauler driver was killed as a truck hit his vehicle on Domar-Dimla road at Tinbat village in Dimla Upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kashem,55, of the village.

Officer-in-charge of Dimla Police Station Moazzem Hossain said a goods-laden truck hit the human hauler around 8.30 am, leaving Kashem dead on the spot. A passenger of the human hauler was also injured. The truck driver fled the scene.

Meanwhile, BSS adds: A schoolgirl was killed in road accident in front of SP office of Manikganj Sadar upazila on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Eshita 5, daughter of Sohel Rana of village Ukiara under Manikganj Sadar upazila and a student of Play Group of Holy Flower School and College of Manikganj.
