MAGURA, Dec 23: Growing mustard along with papaya is gaining popularity across the district.

A good number of farmers in the area said farming papaya and mustard at the same time is profitable. Both items grow at the same time in the same land.

The method helps boost production.

Sources at the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Magura, said about 210 hectares of land have been brought under integrated farming of papaya and mustard in the district this season.

"We are expecting a plentiful yield of both of the items", DAE officials added.

Mukter Hossein of Beroil village under Magura Sadar said, "Last year I cultivated papaya and mustard on two bighas of land and made a profit of Tk 65,000 from the produce."

The grower said he is cultivating papaya and mustard on four bigha of land for more profit.

Magura DAE official Shohrab Hossein said integrated cultivation of papaya and mustard is expanding in the district.

"We provide all necessary support in this regard", he added.
