Jessore, Satkhira road accidents claim two lives

JESSORE, Dec 20 (BSS): A woman was killed and her husband was injured in a road accident in front of the Sharsha Pilot High School under Sharsha upazila of the district on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Selina Akhter,45, wife of Anwarul Kabir who is superintendent of Sharsha Dhakhil Madrasha in the upazila.

Sharsha thana officer-in-charge (OC) M Mashiur Rahman confirmed the incident.

Police said a caravan hit Anwar's Motorcycle in the area on Tuesday night. Selina died on the spot and Anwar was injured.

A case was filed in Sharsha thana in this connection.

Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Satkhira, a stone trader was killed and four pedestrians were injured in a road accident in front of Bhomra land port on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Uzzal Hossain, a resident of Paikgachha upazila of Khulna district.

Police said the accident took place when a stone-laden truck with Uzzal on board turned turtle in front of Bhomra land port around 7:30 pm, leaving the trader dead on the spot and four pedestrians injured.

The injured were taken to the Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
