Khulna DLS implementing Tk 2.65 billion Bull Calf Rearing project

KHULNA, Jan 14: The Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Khulna, is implementing the 'Bull Calf Rearing Unit Cum Mini-Lab' project in the divisional town at a cost of Tk 2.65 billion.

After the completion of all the process, land acquisition programme and master plan of the project has recently been started. The project is being set up on five acres of land in Chak Hassan Khali Mauza adjacent to Rupsha Bypass Road. The project includes office cum lab building, bull calf shade, growing bull calf shade, bull shade run, semen collection, cattle fodder warehouse, isolation shade and exercise yard and internal RCC Road with boundary wall, overhead water tank and pump house. The project will be completed in December 2020.

Project Director Dr M Belal Hossain said quality bulls and semen will be produced in the laboratory. Later, the bulls and semen will be supplied at the union level across the country at a fair price.

Therefore, if the project is implemented, the country will contribute to create the employment opportunity, including the production of eggs, milk and meat for the protection of food security and public health. Women will be able to improve livelihood by increasing income through poultry and dairy farm.
