Chilli growers are incurring a huge loss this season though they have achieved a good yield in spite of adverse weather condition.

This year more than 400 bighas of land were brought under chilli cultivation in the upazila.

Green chilli is being sold at Tk 20 per kg in the local kitchen market.

A good number of cultivators said if this present price continues many farmers will not grow chilli in the coming seasons.

Santos Paul of Paroil village said he cultivated chilli on 18 decimals of land.

He sold some 18 maunds of the produce last week.

The farmer said he is not satisfied over the present market rate.
