Magura catlle fatteners expect good frofit

MAGURA, Aug 10: Cattle fatteners in the district are expecting a high profit this Eid.

Magura district livestock office sources said a total of 35,337 cattle have been fattened here this season while the demand is around 33,727.

Besides, fattened cattle head of Magura are completely steroid free. Fatteners have fattened cattle in the district in natural process. They generally use urea, molasses and straw (UMS).

The process is hygienic and cheap. Besides, some medicine which provide mineral and vitamin are also given to the cattle.

Mujahidul Islam of Nanduali village under Magura Sadar said, "I purchased three cattle at Tk 0.15 million around six months back. I have already sold two cows at 0.18 million and am expecting Tk 80,000 from another cattle."

Cattle rearer Chand Ali of Kanda Bashkuta village under Magura Sadar said, "I have fattened nine cattle head this year. In the mean time I have sold five cows to a trader from my house. I am expecting Tk 0.4 million more from rest of my cows."

Magura district livestock officer Dr Hadiuzzaman said cattle fattening is popular in the area. Farmers are happy over the price.
