Model UN confce concludes at RU

RAJSHAHI, Mar 05: A four-day model United Nations (UN) international conference on 'Combating Inhumanity: Prolonging Global Peace' concluded at the Rajshahi University (RU) campus on Sunday, said a press release.
The conference organised by RU Model United Nations (RUMUN) for third time at Shaheed Sukhranjan Sammadder Teachers-Students Cultural Centre (TSCC) participating with about 300 students from 45 educational institutions form both home and abroad.
Earlier on March 01 former Bangladesh high commissioner in UK and also former RU VC Prof. Saidur Rahman Khan inaugurated the conference.
In the four-day conference, 300 students took part into several debate contests on title and 20 adjudicators decided the results of their debate.
Besides, six committees have been formed with participants including three from India and twice from Nepal in the closing day.
Each committee has been assigned an agenda. The agendas are: UN Security Council, World Trade Organisation, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UN Environment Programme, Chemical Weapons Disarmament Organization and International Media.
Prof Shah Azam Shantonu, Marketing Department, Prof Sayeed Imran Hossain, Accounting and Information System (AIS) and RUMUN general secretary Quamrunnahar Tuli were spoke on the concluding session with its president Sujon Mahmud in the chair.
Speakers urged the young leaders to come forward to play their role in achieving UN schedules. Because of youth leaders have the opportunity to contribute in building nations.
