Mustard cultivation goes on in full swing in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Dec 11: Mustard cultivation is going on in full swing in the district.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said 1,510 hectares of land is the primary target for growing the oil crop in the district to produce 1,812 tonnes of yield.

DAE officials said mustard farming is increasing in the area for gradual change of the cropping pattern.

Abu Alam of Itakhola union under Sadar upazila said he has decided to grow mustard in one bigha (30 decimal) of land this season.

Sources said mustard production is cost-friendly as it does not need much fertilisers, frequent weeding and irrigation.

Around eight maund of mustard is generally produced in a bigha of land.
