Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram road accidents kill seven

A total of seven people killed in separate road accidents in three districts - Mymensingh, Khulna and Chattogram on Wednesday, report agencies.

In Mymensingh, three people, including a couple, were killed and two others injured as a private car hit a truck in bypass area of the district town on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Avijit Singh Rao, 30, a resident in Kalibari area of the town, his wife Moni Singh Rao, 25 and Mofij, 40. All the deceased were the passengers of the private car.

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar police station Mahmudul Islam said the accident took place as driver of the private car lost his control over the steering wheels and hit the truck.

Avijit Singh and Moni Singh died on the spot while Mofij died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Of the injured, city unit Chhatra League President Abdullah Al Mamun Arif was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, in Khulna, a woman and her minor daughter were killed when a bus hit a rickshaw at Khalishpur in the city on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Shimul Akhter, 35, wife of Babul Hossain of Alamnagar of Khalishpur, and their daughter Tonny, 7.

Assistant Commissioner (Media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police Sonali Sen said the BRTC bus smashed the rickshaw carrying the duo around 7:30 am, leaving the minor girl dead on the spot and her mother injured.

The injured was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries around 9.00 am.

In Chattogram, two brothers were killed as a bus hit their motorbike in Sattarghat area of Halda embankment under Raozan upazila of the district this noon.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Rubel, 30, an expatriate and his ounger cousin Mohammad Tareaq, 14, hailed from Gohira village of the upazila.

Police said the accident occurred on the Chattogram-Rangamati highway when the Chattogram-bound bus hit the motorbike from behind, leaving the two bike riders critically injured.

The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared them dead.
