SYLHET Aug 24: The much-desired town bus service would begin in September connecting different suburban places with Sylhet city points.

Initially it will begin with 40 new buses, an official at the Syhet City Corporation (SCC) said, adding, preparations are already complete for launching the facility.

At the beginning the service, named 'Nagar Express,' would have 40 vehicles to cover routes like Tukerbazar-Hetimganj, Tukerbazar-Bateswar, Airport-Hajiganj and Surma Market-Rashidpur, said the SCC mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury. We would include more routes to the facility later, he added.

The SCC would be in control and monitoring of the long-felt service with the Nagar Bus Service Malik Samity and other concerned people, the mayor informed.

It may be stated here that, town bus service with the different suburban destinations, which was launched after liberation had to be shut in early eighties for different reasons.

Again the service was pressed with minibuses in a limited arrangement during the caretaker regime. But due to absence of proper monitoring and service arrangement alongside disturbance by the auto roickshaws, it got reduced to very limited routes.
