Over 0.17m Rajshahi families get VGF rice

RAJSHAHI, Jun 10 (BSS): Over 0.17 million poor and distressed families have been brought under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme in Rajshahi district to mark the end of Ramadan and celebration of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

Under the programme, 1,790.03 tonnes of rice were allocated for distribution among the beneficiary families in nine upazilas and 14 municipalities in the district.

Each of the card-holder is getting 10-kg of rice this time according to the list prepared earlier under the existing social safety net programme.

Meanwhile, distribution of rice has already been started in some of the upazilas and will be completed before the Eid day in all upazilas and municipalities.
