BOGURA, Oct 03: Over 300 families of the district have attained financial solvency by making fancy caps.

Sources said local Youth Development Department is supporting male and female poor people in this connection.

A good number of people have attained self-reliance from the venture, sources added.

In a recent visit this correspondent found, different government and non-government organisations are working in this connection.

Locally-made caps are sent to different districts across the country including the capital and are selling at a higher rate.

Abdul Hannan Hossain of Dhunot upazila said most of the housewives, school and college going girls belonging to poorer families, are engaged in making caps to earn additional money.

"I bring yarn from nearby Sauil Bazar at Tk 300 to Tk 400 per kg," said Kamrun Nahar of Binahali village. "I earn over Tk 120 to Tk 150 daily from the venture", she added.

The initiative is expanding fast across the district as many unemployed youths are making a handsome profit.
