A vehicle crossing the broken Pachosha bridge in Gunaher union under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura on Sunday — FE Photo BOGURA, Apr 08: People of Dupchanchia upazila of the district are in serious trouble due to collapse of the Pachosha Bridge.
Locals said the bridge has been turned into a death trap. More than a dozen terrible road mishaps have been occurred on the spot within a couple of months.
More than 12,000 people from Taluch, Kamaru, Pachisha, Jhajira, Gunaher, Atuil, Bathanda, Dupchanchia, Matihas and Bergram villages use the bridge everyday for their communication.
The villagers claimed that the bridge collapsed for low construction material and frequent movement of over-loaded trucks.
"Road accident is now a common scenario in the area. We have to cross the bridge risking our lives", said a commuter Enamul Haque.
If the authority concerned doesn't take effective step on an immediate basis, accidents may snatch many more immature lives, he added.
Chairman of Gunaher union council Abdul Khalek said, "We have already sent an application to the higher authority to take immediate steps regarding this but did not get any response yet. School, collage and madrasah students are the worst suffers."
