PANCHAGARH, Apr 03 (BSS): Farmers here have got a bumper watermelon production with getting fair price of the fruit this year.
District Agricultural Extension Department (DAE) officials said about 325 hectares of land had been brought under watermelon cultivation in the district.
They said, the growers spent Tk 30,000 per acre of land for watermelon cultivation and earned about Tk 0.1 million.
Farmer Md Rejoan Ali of Debiganj upazila told the news agency that he achieved a bumper production of watermelon due to favorable weather condition along with getting good quality of seeds and proper advices from DAE officials.
Deputy director of Panchagarh DAE Md Samchul Huque said about 20 to 25 tonnes of watermelon grew per hectare of land in the district this season.
