Prices of chemical fertiliser, agri inputs up in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Sept 02: Aman farmers of the district are worried over the rise in prices of different agriculture inputs and labour cost.

Particularly price of chemical fertiliser has increased significantly in different fertiliser shops in the markets across the district.

Farmers' sources said government rate of urea for a 50 kg sack is Tk 800, TSP Tk 1,100 per sack and potash Tk 700 per sack but retail traders realise around extra Tk 100 per sack from the farmers.

Anisar Rahman of Itakhola union council of Sadar upazila said he cultivated Aman paddy on 100 decimal of land and his total cost of cultivation would go up as the price of chemical fertiliser has increased.

He said he bought urea at Tk 900 per sack as against Tk 800, TSP at Tk 1,200 per sack as against Tk 1,100 and potash at Tk 800 as against Tk 700.

Asraf Ali, a retail fertiliser seller of Itakhola union, said, "We purchased fertiliser at a higher rate from the dealers. So we also increased the price."

President of Nilphamari district fertiliser association Abdul Wahed Sarkar said allotment of fertiliser was comparatively less in July and August than that of the demand but if any retail seller realises higher price then he is to blame.
