River re-excavation project starts in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Apr 29 (BSS): River re-excavation project of Arial Kha, Haridoa, Brahmaputra, Pahari, tributaries of Meghna, old Brahmaputra and Brahmaputra river (Naryanganj part) were inaugurated on Saturday last.

State Minister for Water Resources Lt Colonel ((Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiru (Birpratik) MP inaugurated the projects as chief guest in a function at Sutkikandi area under Karimpur union of Narsingdi Sadar upazila.

The State Minister said, the government has initiated a big move to re-excavate the rivers for restoring navigability of rivers and remove the water logging.

The projects are being implemented by the 24 Construction Engineer Brigade of the Bangladesh Army with assistance of the Bangladesh Water Development Board. The project would be implemented from April 2018 to December 2019.
