Road accident claims one life in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Mar 31 (BSS): A motorcyclist was killed as he was hit by a truck at Kalupur on the Shibganj-Monakasha road under Shibganj upazila on Friday night.

Police sources said the deceased was identified as Abdur Rouf, 45, son of late Jainal Abedin of Ponerorashia village under the same upazila.

Rouf's co-rider Jewel Rana, 40, son of late Jhantu of the same area, was injured in the accident.

The sources said Rouf and Jewel were returning home from Shibganj Bazar by a motorcycle. As they reached Kalupur, the truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle killing Rouf on the spot.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and detained the truck.

The driver of the truck managed to flee away, the sources added.
