Road crash kills three workers, injures 40

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 29 (BSS): Three ready-made garments (RMG) workers were killed and 40 others injured in a road accident in Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) area under Anwara upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Latif, 55, hailed from Barisal, Sultana Razia, 35, of Anwara upazila and Irfan, 27, son of Shamsul Huda of Lohagara upazila of the district.

Zahedul Islam, assistant commissioner of Karnaphuli Zone of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, said the accident occurred when a bus, carrying workers of KEPZ, hit another stationary bus in the area around 8 am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving Latif dead on the spot and injuring 42 workers.

The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Sultana and Irfan dead.
