Road crashes claim seven lives in dists

At least seven people were killed while 18 others injured in separate road crashes in Mymensingh, Narsingdi, Gopalganj and Manikganj districts on Wednesday, report agencies.

In Mymensingh, three people were killed and three others injured when a microbus rammed a CNG-run three-wheeler at Satrashia in Muktagacchaupazilaon Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Ali Ahmed Mollah, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Station, said a microbus hit a Muktagaccha-bound auto-rickshaw around 7:30 am, leaving its three passengers dead on the spot and three injured.

In Narsingdi, two teenage boys were killed and five others injured when a trolley plunged into a roadside ditch at Khakchar in Raipuraupazilain the morning.

The deceased were identified as Rabiul, 15, and Mamun, 15, of Tokipura village. Both were students of class X of a local madrassa.

Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Raipura Police Station, said 15 boys riding on a trolley were heading towards Raipura Degree College ground for playing football.

When the trolley reached Khakchar, it plunged into a roadside ditch around 7:30 am, leaving them dead on the spot and five others injured.

In Gopalganj, a local trader was killed and three others injured as a mango laden truck overturned at Majhbari of Kotalipara upazila around 4:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Shahid Khan, 30, son of Fazle Rabbi Khan of Manpasha village in Jhalokathi district.

In Manikganj, a BRAC Bank official was killed and seven others were injured in a road accident on Manikganj-Dhaka road at Medulia under Dhallah union of Singair upazila.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman Khan, 36, son of Amir Ali khan of Shubhashini village under Tala upazila of Satkhira district.

Police said the accident occurred when a Singair-bound battery driven auto-bike collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck in the area around 9.30 am, leaving eight people injured on the spot.

The wounded were admitted to Singair Upazila Health Comlpex from where Abdur Rahman Khan was shifted to the Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar as his condition deteriorated.

But later he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The body was sent to Manikganj hospital for autopsy.
