Road mishaps kill three in two dists

RANGPUR, Apr 16 (BSS): Two people were killed in a road accident at Fakirerhat point on the Mithapukur-Fulbari Regional Highway under Mithapukur upazila on Monday, police said.

"The accident occurred when a private car hit an aged person sitting by the roadside, overturned and hit a roadside house at 9.00 am," Sub-inspector (SI) of Mithapukur Police Station Ashish Kumar said.

"Aged person Alef Uddin, 60, son of Ayen Uddin of village Gilajhuki under Mithapukur upazila and owner of the private car Mostafizar Rahman Fizar, 40, vice-president of Dinajpur Sadar upazila unit of Jubo League were killed on the spot," the SI said.

Mostafizar Rahman, son of Yunus Ali, hailed from Boraipur village under Sadar upazila in Dinajpur.

"After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their respective relatives and the process of filing a case in this connection with Mithapukur Thana was in progress," SI Ashish Kumar said.

Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Natore, a motorcyclist was killed while another injured as a vehicle hit their bike in Khejurtola area of Boraigram upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mamtaz Ali, resident of Bonpara area in the upazila.

The accident took place around 10:30am when an unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle leaving Mamtaz dead on the spot, said Shamsun Nur, officer-in-charge of Bonpara Highway Police.
