RAJSHAHI, Mar 27: Rajshahi University (RU) has launched the country's first modern 'Virtual Reality Lab' recently.

Sources said the laboratory was established at the fourth Science building of the university where some 300 students are being trained on AR, VR and MR technologies.

These students dream is to become world-class IT technologists one day with their knowledge from this laboratory.

Rajshahi-based trainers of AR, VR and MR, Musabbir Islam and Khademul Islam Mollah said, "The Virtual Lab is providing all types of training from apps developing to programming."

These technologies will be popular soon, they further said.

Earlier, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Government Authority established the laboratory at a cost of Tk 40 million in September last year. It was formally launched this month.

It is a project of 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park' which is under construction in Rajshahi.

The imitated environment here may be similar to the real world. Or maybe the environment is different from the real one, Mr Mollah informed.

In 1962, Morton L Heilig released his first virtual reality (VR), using his created Sensorma Stimulator.
