Tangail municipal admin takes project to build box drains

TANGAIL, Nov 07: Tangail municipal administration has taken a project which includes construction of box drains in areas under the municipality.

Official sources said concrete roads, street lights, paving of footpaths and modern drainage system are in the development project.

A good number of locals said they have been suffering since long due to absence of a drainage system. "We want a permanent solution", they added.

Chief engineer of the municipality Mirza Arif said the work is going on in full swing under Municipal Governance and Services Project (MGSP) of the government.

The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank are the fund providers, the official added.

On completion of the project the municipal area dwellers will enjoy a clean and hazardous-free city life, Mr Arif further said.

Talking to this correspondent municipal mayor Jamilur Rahman Miron expressed his happiness over the ongoing project.

He said, "I am waiting for completion of the project. People will get a flavour of clean city."
