Thousands of commuters suffer for bad shape of road

BOGURA, May 12: Several thousand commuters from Mohespur, Alompur, Bishaw, Atgram, Shibpur and Bottoli villages are suffering much due to bad shape of Dupchanchia-Molamgari connecting road.

Some important points of the road was damaged in a landslide last year, has not yet been fully repaired, much to the suffering of commuter, said commuters Milon Kumar Das.

People from all walks of life use the road everyday for their daily necessary work. Besides, a good number goods laden truck, three wheelers, rickshaw, van and bus run in the road from Dupchanchia to Joypurhat via Molamgari area.

The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) official said 10 to 15 spots on the road were damaged in the landslide previous year. We have already sent letters to the higher authority seeking fund to repair the damage spots.

In a recent visit the correspondent found a good number CNG-run auto-rickshaw, potato laden truck, passenger caring bus, jeeps and motorcycles are plying the road taking life risk. Miniature road accident is being occurred daily while they are moving.

Ruhul Amin Alim, a paddy trader, said he goes to Joypurhat town everyday through the road for business purposes although it is risky to move there. He said it should be repaired as early as possible; otherwise, they would suffer more coming random rainy season.

CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Akram Hossain said it is very difficult to drive vehicles on the road. They are to change the tyre of the vehicle due to bad shape of the road, he added.

High official of LGED of Joypurhat said some damaged places were repaired six months ago and the link road would be repaired as soon as possible.
