Training on BRRI Dhan-74 cultivation held in Naogaon

NAOGAON, Feb 02: A day-long training programme on the cultivation of zinc-enriched BRRI Dhan-74 has been held in Manda Upazila of the district.

Non-government organisation Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB), in association with Harvest Plus, arranged the programme at its Bijoypur office yesterday.

Upazila DAE officer Golam Faruk Hossain addressed the function as the chief guest with area manager of CCDB Ranjit Kumar Saha in the chair.

Bangladesh Representative of Harvest Plus Zakiul Hasan, branch manager of CCDB Raihan Uddin Mandal and seed officer Bhagirat Chandra attended the training programme, among others.

Twenty-five male and female farmers of Manda Upazila participated in the training course to acquire knowledge on BRRI Dhan-74 cultivation technologies, agronomical management and benefits.

Addressing the occasion, speakers discussed on cultivation technologies, importance of enhancing cultivation, benefits and necessity for optimum consumption of zinc-enriched rice for meeting nutritional demand of common people.

Speakers called upon the farmers for enhancing cultivation and optimum consumption of the zinc-enriched BRRI Dhan-74 that yields seven to eight tonnes of paddy per hectare in 145 to 150 days.

CCDB area manager Ranjit Kumar Saha informed around 1,200 selected farmers in Manda Upazila received seeds of the zinc-enriched BRRI Dhan-74 in the ongoing boro season.
