An act of generosity

October 31, 2018 00:00:00

One morning, I was looking for a public transport in Hatirjheel that would take me to my office near the FDC intersection.

Many commuters like me were waiting for private cars that pick and drop passengers on the many exits of Hatirjheel. As the circular bus services cannot accommodate all passengers, people opt for these private vehicles.

A biker stopped in front me. He asked me where I want to go. I thought he was a biker from Uber or Pathao. But he was not from any ride-sharing service. He was on way to his office in Karwanbazar. He offered to drop me off near FDC intersection on the way to his office.

I was a bit confused thinking if I should take the ride or not doubt his motives. But as I was getting late, I took his offer and hopped on the bike. The biker politely requested me to wear the helmet. He drove the bike very carefully and did not break any traffic rules. Within a few minutes we were at my destination. I got down from his bike and asked him the fare. Thanking me, he said he likes to help people for free in this manner. But some people do not take his help fearing danger and doubting his intention.

I learnt from him that he works for an international courier company. I took a selfie with him and then he rode off. I was surprised to see such generosity from a person in Dhaka, where selfless deeds are very rare now-a-days.
