Apathy of voters mars DNCC election

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election passed off silently. There was no enthusiasm among the voters about this election. The chief election commissioner found the DNCC election "normal" and "peaceful". The Election Commission (EC) also stressed that it is not their duty to bring voters in the polling booth. The north Dhaka city mayoral post fell vacant following the death of Annisul Huq in November 2017. Annisul was elected mayor of DNCC on April 28, 2015. The city dwellers still remember the late mayor fondly for his work and dedication. The new mayor Atiqul Islam has a big shoe to fill and I hope he will be able to make our city a better place for its citizens.
