Bringing hope through education

A back-page report, along with a photograph, published in a local English daily on May 26 highlights the worthy deeds of a great person named Ashraf Hossain, a retired government official hailing from Harirampur village on the banks of Padma river in Manikganj. His is a rarity. From his own pension funds, which was his only personal fund, he set up a primary school and arranged teachers for the school. The only primary school in the area was far away and the poor children had great difficulty in going to school when it rained. This has proved to be a tremendous help for education of the village children. Words fail this writer in expressing his deep respect and admiration for the dedicated soul.
