Cattle market for DSCC

There is no cattle haat (market) anywhere in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), which has a population of more than 8.0 million. Meat traders have to go to Gabtoli haat to buy cow, buffalo, goat and lamb. Cattle traders who come from southern districts have to go there to sell cattleheads. However, there is an area between Jatrabari and Demra under the DSCC's jurisdiction, which is now used as waste dumping spot. This area, we think, can be developed as a cattle market. Such a step will help those who rear cattleheads to get better price and ensure reasonable price for traders and consumers in Dhaka South. DSCC authorities will get a viable source of revenue from such a market.
