Community centre

The Dhaka City Corporation started construction of a community centre in Khilgoan in early 2000. The construction work of the two-storey structure came to a halt during the caretaker government and there is no progress since then. Khilgoan and its surroundings -- Bashabo, Tilpapara, Goran -- are a huge residential area but there is no community centre in the public sector for holding wedding ceremony, cultural and religious programmes. Many people cannot afford rent charged by private centres. So, the city corporation authorities should resume construction work of the community centre and ensure affordable facilities for the local people.
