Complaint box in every academic institution

The High Court Division suggested on July 10 that there should be a complaint box in every academic institution to prevent bullying of students. Since the students are young, they cannot complain to teachers and guardians out of shyness, the Court considered.

When the news of abuse is coming from every corner of the country, this is indeed a good step.

We want proper utilisation of the complaint boxes. The box can be opened on regular basis. Actions taken based on the complaints should be communicated with students, guardians and teachers.

Students should be made aware of the use of the complaint box. In addition, teachers should discuss about the box in the classroom in order to respond to queries of the youngsters of the academic institutions.

People across the country are becoming more concerned about the safety of our women and children. Everyone is trying to share ideas on social media, television talk shows and in personal conversations about what steps can be taken in this regard.

It is time we took every measure to make our institutions safer for all in general, and for our youngsters in particular.
