Improving conditions at Dhaka Airport

DHAKA airport badly needs a facelift. I went to Dhaka airport a few days ago along with one of my relatives who was going abroad. It has been quite some time since I visited Dhaka airport last and I was really disappointed to see the prevailing conditions in and around the airport. The stairway that leads to departure terminal was absolutely shabby and dirty. It appeared as if no one swept the stairs for a long time. Inside the airport it was equally unclean and untidy. I felt awkward to see our largest airport in such a pitiable condition. It was quite clear that the management does not care much about maintaining the airport and keeping it clean and tidy.

We all know that the first impression lasts long. If it is true what will a foreigner think about Dhaka airport particularly if he or she first visits Bangladesh. Foreigners are used to consider an airport as the gateway to any country. If we fail to make our airport impressive and presentable to outsiders, foreigners will instantly have a poor impression about us which is not going to be helpful at all. We see most of our shopping malls tastefully decorated and I think the airport authorities should follow this example and ensure best maintenance of our premier airport.
