Jaywalkers' news and photos

August 26, 2018 00:00:00

After so many news and photos of the reckless people jaywalking in Dhaka, the menace appears to have made little impact on the errant people. The recent FE photograph of a middle-aged lady, presumably a teacher or a school staff, herding a group of child students across a road amid speeding vehicles is disconcerting. A foot over-bridge is said to be a few metres away. But the lady guiding the innocent boys does not seem to bother. The bold way in which she was leading the students through the road emerged as yet another scathing commentary on the city's jaywalking scenario. The photograph veritably appears to be a 'practical lesson' for students in jaywalking. If a teacher, or a responsible person, imparts this kind of lessons to kids, their state of grooming can well be assumed. It is alarming, to say the least.

There is another aspect of the menace. Despite regular publication of news and photographs of the jaywalkers' arrogance in the newspapers, these reminders go futile. The reason is not far to seek. People do not care a fig about these news and atrocious photographs. Or else, they do not read newspapers at all.
