Lack of amusement facilities in the capital

CITIZENS of Dhaka are often heard complaining that the city painfully lacks amusement facilities. Parks with garden and open spaces are too few and ill maintained. Thanks to Bashundhara Shopping Centre and Jamuna Future Park the people can at least watch some good movies on the big screen with comfort although cost of ticket is on the high side. The two facilities are still preferred as most of the other movie theatres in the city do not have the environment to watch films along with family members. Some of the large movie halls have already been converted to shopping malls largely because of declining movie watchers due to poor quality of local movies. Eating out however is a more preferred recreational activity for Dhaka dwellers and no wonder local and chain restaurants now have flourishing business. Restaurants serving Indian, Chinese, Thai and Korean foods are aplenty alongside fast food outlets offering pizza, burger, sandwich, Shwarma, etc. There are special restaurants also for Kabab and other Moghul dishes. But in the end compared to the population of Dhaka these restaurants are not plenty. More importantly things are not cheap. I sincerely hope that the government will build more amusement facilities in the city and at the same time influence the restaurants to lower their prices.
