Mayor Annisul Huq Road

THE road stretching from Tejgaon Saatrasta to Karwan Bazar has been named after late Mayor Annisul Huq of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) as a mark of respect for the departed soul. The decision was taken at the 21st meeting of the DNCC held on December 11, 2017. I would like to thank DNCC for such a remarkable tribute to the late Mayor. Earlier, the road was illegally occupied and being used as a truck stand for a long time. Mayor Annisul freed it from illegal occupation despite fierce resistance from truck drivers and trade unions.

He did the work while risking his life. Now, anyone would not believe that there was once a truck stand there. I recently wrote a letter to the editor of Financial Express and through him I requested the authorities to name the road after Annisul Huq. The Financial Express published my letter on December 09, 2017 and the DNCC took the decision on December 21, 2017 in this regard. We are thankful to all.

Late DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq passed away at Wellington Hospital in London on November 30, 2017. He was a man of diversified talents and will be remembered for his good deeds.
