Mobile phone etiquettes

October 17, 2018 00:00:00

The mobile phone has made life convenient for us. But at the same time, it has complicated it. Sometimes people talk loudly on their mobile phones while discussing personal matters. They tend to forget that they are surrounded by people, some of them being total strangers. They also become oblivious about the fact that the people around them are being disturbed by the loud sound. I recently had a bitter experience of this sort.

It was a Saturday morning. So the roads were more or less empty. I was on a bus heading towards my workplace. I was happy to find a seat on the bus that was almost full. Beside me, a well-dressed young man was seated with an expensive mobile set in his hand. He received a call and gradually the volume of his voice increased while talking to the person on the other end. Apparently, he was talking with a person who had lent him some money that he was supposed to pay back. But as he did not pay it back yet, the lender was insisting for the fund of Tk 20,000. The young man pleaded for some time to pay the amount back.

This loud conversation disturbed everyone in the bus. Also, people understood that this person is possibly going through some financial hardship. In Bangladesh, such information is not regarded as very important. But in developed countries, this kind of information is very valuable.

People need to understand these facts. They should try to ensure some etiquette while speaking on their cell-phones.
