Prisons are unsafe for children
February 01, 2018 00:00:00
IN 2012, the High Court declared a rule that no children will be kept in jails. Unfortunately many innocent children have been growing up with their mothers in prisons around the country. These children can not have proper education and nourishment inside prisons. They grow up with a psycho-social pressure that badly influences their attitude towards life. The environment in prisons is also far from being helpful for their growth as responsible and worthy citizens of the country. Although some of them are school going, time for them outside the jail is insufficient and can not help them change their behaviour and attitude towards life. Shelter homes for children of prisoners should be built to solve this huge problem. Mothers of these children will go there and take care of them in fixed schedules. The system should be introduced as soon as possible.
