Quality fast bowlers needed to win matches

The Tigers have shown great improvement in their performances over the past five to six years. They still had some upsets from time to time. But such upsets can be prevented if more fast bowlers can be recruited into the team.

If Bangladesh wants to win cricket matches outside the Indian subcontinent, they need to have some quality fast bowlers. The team is in desperate need of more bowlers like Mashrafee, Rubel and Mustafizur. The Tigers are not as strong in the fast bowling department as they are in spin bowling. In this regard, Bangladesh can learn from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Both these teams have impressive fast bowling line-ups.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) should encourage and nurture new fast bowling talents. The BCB can also make the cricket pitches in Bangladesh fast and bouncy. This will encourage young bowlers to hone their skills on fast bowling.

Watching fast bowlers run and hurl super-fast balls to batsmen is a treat to watch for cricket-lovers. Without fast bowlers, the world of cricket will become less glamorous and exciting. I am sure with proper structure, grooming and encouragement the Tigers will soon have fast bowlers who can perform like Wasim Akram, Bret Lee, Glen McGrath, Michael Holding and Allan Donald.
