Ragging at JU

February 15, 2018 00:00:00

RECENTLY, a student of the first year of Jahangirnagar University has fallen victim to ragging of senior students in a dormitory of the university. It is learnt that he was hospitalized after the incident and doctors said he became mentally imbalanced due to the torture conducted by the seniors in the name of ragging.

This is a matter of serious concern that a promising student cannot pass a normal life due to the ragging by the seniors. Getting admitted into a public university is not a matter of joke and both the student and his guardians have to give huge effort for this. When a student becomes successful in getting admission into a public university it gives his parents enormous joy and pride. But in the case of the above-mentioned student the parents of this student get pain and agony. They are no more upbeat about the prospect of their son after this brutal incident.

Similar incidents of ragging were reported in the same university before and it seems that the authorities have failed to stop this bad practices.

We hope that the JU authorities will take immediate measures to stop ragging as well as to bring the perpetrators to the book.
