Rain and sufferings of city dwellers

Rain causes sufferings to the city dwellers. Broken and dilapidated roads make the lives of the commuters difficult. Getting out of homes becomes a challenging affair as big holes on the main roads often make the journey of commuters risky and troublesome. Many of the city roads go under water when there is a little rain. Due to water-logging, people are discouraged to go out and poor people like small traders, rickshaw pullers and footpath hawkers suffer as they cannot earn their usual daily income.

Because of water-logging, vehicles cannot move smoothly and heavy terrific is seen on the city roads. At least half of the roads of our capital become unusable. Prices of essentials, specially of vegetables, go up manifold during the rainy season.

The authorities concerned should take an all-out effort to reduce sufferings of the city dwellers.
