Relocating BIDA's office

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) was launched on September 1, 2016 after merging Bangladesh Board of Investment and Privatisation Communication in a bid to promote investment and facilitate foreign and local investments.

The primary objective was to provide all types of services to potential investors under one roof. In this regard, BIDA has made agreements with various government organisations and very recently it launched an online one stop services for local and foreign investors on trial basis. Under the platform, investors will have access to many services online without having to go to the BIDA office.

All the initiatives by BIDA are commendable. But BIDA was supposed to move to a new office. This relocation can help the body immensely. But nearly three years after its formation in 2016, it is still located at its earlier address.

I hope that the concerned authorities will look into this issue and take necessary steps to relocate BIDA to a new building.
